Story of my ignorance
This is a special article that
shows you my ignorance towards inevitable things. A family, just opposite to my
Grandma’s house had a huge neem tree and they considered it to be sacred. Every
morning, they used to perform pooja and they simply became devotees of that
immobile organism. A few days later, they were renovating their house. They
were constructing a big one and the tree was right in the middle of their expanding
territory. Everyone expected them to chop the tree. But, they terminated their
construction right before the tree. I thought they were being ‘STUPID’. When
road was being laid, the construction authorities decided to remove the tree by
purchasing the small piece of land that had the tree. They were ready to pay
double the cost of that small piece of land. But the tree- devoted family
wasn’t ready to remove the tree at any cost. I thought they were being
‘SENSELESS’. Now, it has taken me eighteen years to realize that they were
extremely right in what they were doing. No one has seen God. Yet, we believe
in god by giving him/her different structures. That family did the same thing
by giving god the structure of a tree. You know what? Knowingly or unknowingly,
that family was apt in deciding their god. What does God do? He creates you,
designates a place on Earth for you to live, protects you and finally kills you
taking into consideration your bad deeds. Trees in the form of Nature provide
the necessary atmospheric conditions for our birth, they protect us by
providing oxygen and they never kill us! So, they are probably better than our
own Gods. We believe that God is everywhere, from the chair we sit to the books
we learn. Trees have also made their mark everywhere in the world, from the
chair we sit in the form of wood to the books we learn in the form of paper.
All these years, it was me who
was being stupid and senseless……
